Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles in the skin at specific points throughout the body. These acupuncture points have been mapped by the Chinese for over two thousand years and are selected to treat specific ailments. The theory of acupuncture is based on the flow of Qi (vital energy) and Blood through out meridians or pathways that cover the body (similar to the nerves or blood vessels). The acupuncture points are located on these meridians and serve to properly free up blocked Qi, tonify weak Qi, or disperse excessive Qi within the meridians.

The principle of yin and yang is also important in this medicine. To have optimal health there must be a balance of these two opposing and mutually generating principles. Yin is the dark, slow, cool, night, feminine aspect- also representing Blood. While yang is the bright, fast, hot, day, male aspect - representing Qi. Without blood, Qi cannot flow. Without blood Qi cannot be carried. Like with out day there can not be night, cold and hot, etc.. To have health there must be a balance of these two energies, so that there is a harmony with in the body. Acupuncture points are selected in combination to correct each ailment presented in the client.
